The second chapter of the D_gha Nik_ya is dominated by the Mah_parinibb_nasutta, the longest of all early Buddhist discourses, which tells the moving story of the BuddhaÕs last journey and final Nibbana. A number of other suttas expand the BuddhaÕs mythological status, while two discourses make significant contributions to Buddhist philosophy of causation (DN 15) and meditation (DN 22).
