This is the story of a young girl who was brought up in Ireland and raised by her aunt. She was pushed from pillar to post until her father took her back to England when she was 17 years old. She fell into a disastrous marriage which made her nervous and mistrustful of most people until she met her second husband who initially looked on her as someone who needed a friend.
