This book is the story of families who lived at Lynwick House in Rudgwick, from the Butchers, who lived there from earliest recorded history to the 19th century, the Braby brothers who followed (but did not live there), to the gentrification by Charles Timms, an Australian. The book shifts up a gear to chronicle the life and estate-building of John Aungier from 1896, and the break-up of his estate in 1922, and finally to ownership, by multiple individuals, of his land in the 1920s and 30s and the subsequent history of the house itself, with today some 200 houses built on parts of the estate.
