Trains, trolleys and cars opened a place to live outside the busy cities of Camden and Philadelphia. The old farm landscape was being diced up into building lots. Still Maple Shade was a quiet country village as tract housing won't come until the 1920s. Moorestown remained the "town center" in Chester Township with Maple Shade and Lenola soon to increase in population.
