The Memoirs of Daniel W. Cunningham is difficult in many ways, but it is a first hand account of participation in some of the family feuds of Applachia. Difficult in that it is not a balanaced account. Events take place in Roane and Jackson County, West Virginia; Russell and Buchanan County, Virginia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The feuds were outgrowths of hostilities begun in the American Civil War.
