The texts in this collection were developed through various workshops and exercises in the MCOM 344 Digital Humanities: Rhetoric/Media/Poetics course at Winona State University.
The course explored the relationships between the visual, the textual, and the digital, introducing students to some of the rhetorical issues that concern critics of digitally mediated language and the analytical methods they employ. Students looked at a variety of digital media forms and studied the rhetorical properties of each to develop an understanding of how text, image and interaction are used in digital culture to convey information and meaning.
The various projects in this collection are collaborative, and primarily focused toward semiological abstraction with an emphasis on algorithmically manipulated text.
