A compilation of student works that venture into the personal, the painful, the prideful, and the dreamlike.
Students at Heartland Alternative School drafted poems that express their beliefs, highlight people of importance or influence, and depict unforgettable moments of survival, pride or intrigue. Moreover, they created stories where a character had to become either literally or metaphorically invisible, and then visible again.
Creative. Inspiring, and at times very gritty. These are some words that describe stories that leave us wanting more and wanting to do something to change the world with which we live. But this collection also makes us think, feel and challenge our own assumptions about life, people, social norms and groups, equality and integrity.
