The two pieces in Moonlight Dances were composed in 1990 and 1993 respectively. The sources of my inspiration are folktale stories in Nigeria. It is a common practice in Nigeria to assemble children in the evening and tell stories about important legends in the culture, histories of towns and places. The stories are often accompanied with folk songs. The radiance of the moonlight always gives a piquant effect to the serene environment. The title of this work is derived from the society where such stories and singing take place.
