This is a translation of the popular Mother Goose Rhymes into Assyrian language by the late Rabi Youel Davis. This Volume covers sixty six of the one hundred ninety eight rhymes that were translated by Rabi Youel in 1983 and edited by his daughter Dr. Madeleine Davis Moradkhan.
Rabi Yuouel, in his translation, has skillfully retained the spirit of these timeless ditties, riddles, songs, limericks and jingles, while at the same time he has added to them the Assyrian soul and mood of the Urmia countryside when inhabited by the Assyrians in the old days. The illustrations are by Margot Austin and can be colored by the children. Hopefully the Assyrian children of todayÕs space age will find in these lively rhymes and colorful host of characters and verses, the same pleasure that millions of other children find across the globe, and will love the fascinating world of word sounds and patterns in Assyrian language.
