In May 2017, fifteen practitioner-scholars came together in Staunton, VA to form The Motley Shakespeare Players, the sixth Shakespeare & Performance MFA company at Mary Baldwin University. ÊOver the course of the 2017-2018 academic and artistic year, the Motleys produced 6 shows, wearing the various hats of actor, director, stage manager, dramaturg, designer, administrator, and educator. ÊThe MFA company model encouraged these individuals to collaborate and create, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of scholarship and practice. The chapters in Motley Minded chronicle the companyÕs artistic and scholastic endeavors.
