I have enjoyed combining my passions in dance and photography previously, but my dissertation
was a new way to do this. Dance on screen combines these two things, and during this process my
understanding of ideas in these areas have evolved massively. My inspirations have come from a
range of areas, including technology-based, philosophical and social concerns as well as that of
movement and human physicality. I feel that the research has resonated with me not just because of
my interest in the subject, but also for its relevance in modern society and within the dance industry.
Notions of
identity, originality and authenticity are often topics of debate within the arts and are also something
that has become part of our everyday lives on social media- perhaps so commonplace and present
that they go unnoticed.
