This project, Mundane Design, is an attempt to explore underestimated objects that construct the mundane landscape in Japan.
Design is not a matter of appearance. To understand this simple fact, we need to understand the ÔnormalÕ relationship between a man and design: a complex landscape of our mundane world.
We intentionally used the term ÔmundaneÕ to turn it upside down. Acknowledging the negative connotation, we wanted to look at the positive side of the mundane design in the mundane landscape rather than using ÔnormalÕ, a term with a more neutral connotation. Well-conceived but almost invisible, a great value of mundane design is embedded in our mundane life.
Looking well at well-conceived design.
This is the objective of this project.
