Using letters and collected artifacts, William Davis Cotton describes his deployment with the Transportation Corps during World War II. His writing and selected artifacts have been compiled by his daughter, Carole Cotton Winn, to create a scrapbook of World War II in the ETO. Cotton was involved in three major stages of the war: the build-up to D-Day, the creation of a back-up port at Ghent following the Battle of the Bulge, and the occupation of Germany and the rebuilding of the major port at Bremerhaven, Germany on the North Sea. This full-color, hardcover volume offers a personal account of the war as experienced by a Louisiana state senator and lawyer who enlists and sets off on an experience that like thousands of Americans, changed his life and that of his family.
