In school I hated reading in front of the class or in front of my peers.
It would send chills down my spine,
when the teacher called me up
to read.
Even as long as I read, read, and read
the paragraphs in my head,
they were all the same!
Just words on paper.
I would trip over the words,
butchering and butchering them!
Than it was over,
the stuttering, confusion as my peers
laughed their pants off.
I was never the smartest kid
in the class, but no matter
I mostly knew the answers were
right yet I was too shy to say,
to put my ideas out there.
So I did what I had too,
practicing talking to people,
reading out loud,
and reading to people.
Brandishing my arsenal.
Turning me into the strong reader I am today.
