Thames and his father, Tavak, have always been outcasts. Operating a struggling farm in the northwestern plains of Galdom wasn't easy to begin with, but the pair's exclusion from their community makes their hardships even more unbearable. Having poor relations with his father, whose every waking breath is spent scorning their resentful neighbors, Thames is faced with a difficult choice: should he stay with his degenerate father because of the deep family secrets they share, which are the cause for their alienation? Or, should he venture out on his own, seeking a new life away from the physical and social turmoil he faces with Tavak? An encounter with a wealthy stranger turns the tables for Thames, setting him on course for an adventure of both body and soul, and forcing him to confront the question of what he truly believes.
