. INTRODUCTION
Drug / Alcohol abuse and illnesses resulting from drug and alcohol addiction affect all social classes, all layers of the community and all countries. Therefore, the principal goal of the Republic of Guyana is to reduce the drug and alcohol supply and demand, and accordingly, keep the abuse prevalence within the frames bearable for the community in order not to disrupt the basic values of society, family and individual lets make it clear that Alcohol is a Drug. It is a mood and mind altering substance that is culturally accepted in GuyanaÕs society that causes more deaths every year.
Consequently, the main principle of the National Drug Control Strategy for the Republic of Guyana is the principle of drug and alcohol supply and demand reduction, which includes addiction prevention measures, drug crime suppression and measures for drug addiction treatment, rehabilitation and the re-socialization of drug addicts.
