Jook was the brainchild of vocalist / guitarist Ian ÔRalfÕ Kimmet. After he got to know guitarist Trevor White, the pair took off to Scotland for a song-writing stint and returned to London with bassist Ian Hampton. Chris Townson completed the line-up in the summer of 1972. They recorded 5 singles for RCA Records - ÔAlright With MeÕ, ÔShameÕ, ÔOo Oo RudiÕ, ÔKing CappÕ and in 1974 ÔBish, Bash, BoshÕ, by which time the Bay City Rollers had stolen their wardrobe. Annoyed yes, unfazed no, but after a support slot with Sweet was cancelled in April they split-up, as come May Trevor and Ian had departed for Sparks. In 1978 Bomp / Exhibit ÒJÓ (US) and Chiswick (UK) issued a 4-track EP of unreleased material and in 2005 RPM Records released the CD compilation, ÔDifferent ClassÕ. Eight years on Sing Sing Records in the US issued the compilation as a beautiful double LP and in 2014 Jook reunited for a gig in Hartford, Connecticut, US. Since Chris had passed away in 2008, Simon Stewart sat on his drum stool.
