Nonna PinaÕs Cucina is a cookbook born out of love for family and using meals to make people come gather around the table to feel special. Her friends call her Pina and my children call her Nonna.
This cookbook is a compilation of some of the most enduring recipes Nonna Pina brought from her hilltop town in Southern Italy, Altilia. This is the region of Calabria and one of the poorest regions in Europe. The Calabrese people were determined to make food taste good by using simple and readily available ingredients. Combining the fresh ingredients along with cooking techniques created dishes that are well accepted by many parts of the world. Yet other dishes are still very regional and not well known. In this cookbook there are both the popular together with some less known recipes.
