It all started by driving in the rain on a Thursday morning in July, not really so unlike any other summer morning in New Hampshire, except that it was pouring buckets. The day took a turn when a fawn tried to cross the road in front of her Jeep.
The events that follow are both heart-warming and side-splitting as would-be farmer Rebecca Horan builds up her menagerie with characters, some real and some imagined, but all worth a farmer's love.
"A farmer's love is quiet. It doesn't shout from the rooftops or dance till midnight. It doesn't make grand, gaudy gestures or heady proclamations. It serves duck and baked beans and warm blackberry pie. And then it serves up more work."
