This book is meant to be used in a high-beginning-level English class focusing on Reading (and somewhat on Oral Skills). The readings are tied to OregonÕs present and past, with a focus on special places, people, events, and products from the state. There are 3-5 timed readings per unit, and they are designed to encourage students to increase their speed in silent reading and in reading aloud. All readings in the book vary in Lexile level between an estimated 210L and 800L.
Most of the reading passages of this book were originally written by Tim Krause and adapted or expanded by me (Jen Sacklin). Reading passages written by others are credited at the end of the book. The vocabulary activities in this book were almost entirely created by me (Jen Sacklin).
