The Perhappsy Chaps was Ruth Plumly ThompsonÕs first book, collecting 25 of the Perhappsy Chaps poems she had been writing for her weekly ÒFor Boys and GirlsÓ page in the Philadelphia Public Ledger. Staff artist Arthur Henderson (no relation to Marjorie) was assigned to supply illustrations for ÒFor Boys and Girls,Ó and Thompson was delighted with the choice. She called him Òan illustrator whose drawings exactly matched my imaginative text, drawings in line and delicacy in many ways equal to the work of the famous Arthur Rackham.Ó
Now, for the first time in over a century, The Second Royal Historian of Oz's first published book is once again made available... but with a special twist! Not only does it include all the poems in their entirety (going back to their unaltered original publication in the Ledger), it also includes many illustrations that had not before been reprinted, as well as an insightful and information introduction by Oz historian Ruth Berman!
