This volume offers two keyboard suites by Joseph-Hector Fiocco (1703_Ð1741). Originally for harpsichord, the suites contain twelve pieces _each. The music is French in style, featuring character pieces with evocative titles, extensive ornamentation, and pieces in rondeau form_Ñ_all familiar _from the works of F. Couperin and other Baroque French masters. However, Italian elements are present as well; the last four pieces in the first suite _constitute an Italian-style sonata that could be performed on its own. These pieces are delightful to play and deserve to be better known. They are not _difficult and so are accessible to most performers. This edition presents a text as close to the original printing as possible. It includes an Introduction _with discussion of performance issues, a glossary of French terms, and critical notes._
