Outstanding scientific and technological developments have made the polyolefin industry one of the most successful growth industries in the area of large volume materials. During the course of the past 50 years polyethylene, labelled as a commodity plastic, has extended itself to several specific applications. This transformation was the result of lateral and out of the box thinking relating to engineering aspects and the physical and chemical properties of polyethylene. Since the most conspicuous part of the polyolefin industry is catalyst, the major research activities in the academic and industry is devoted the the catalyst synthesis.
