In 1926 Knox College classics professor William Prentiss Drew, of Galesburg, Illinois, took a six month sabbatical to study in Rome. Accompanying him were his wife Edith and four of their six children, George (17), twins Harriet and Jim (13), and Horace (9). Another son, Phil (21) joined the family for in Rome for the return trip through Northern Italy, France, Switzerland, and England.
The travel diaries of William Prentiss, Edith, George, and Harriet have been transcribed and collated by date and recount the experiences of the familyÕs experiences on their trip. The book is illustrated with copies of selected postcards that were collected on their travels.
