FRANCOISE BOLLACK ARCHITECTS Ð PUBLIC WORKS
The book presents three works of architecture built in the US between 1990 and 2000: interventions range from restorations, to alterations, adaptive re-use and additions. Color photographs, drawings and short essays allow readers to understand the work from the perspective of design. The three projects covered in Franoise Bollack Architects Ð Public Works are The New York State Capitol in Albany, New York (restoration and alterations to a National Historic Landmark), the Chesterwood Museum Shop and Barn Gallery in Stockbridge Massachusetts (addition to landmarked building) and the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center renovation in New York City (adaptive re-use of a former school building in the Greenwich Village Historic District).
The bookÕs interest stems from the variety of buildings included and the broad range of creative attitudes developed by the architect to address the specific problems and opportunities of each project.
