Purgatory is a group exhibition that showcases the work of
15 graduating seniors in the department of Art Theory &
Practice at Northwestern University. Themselves in
transition, these student-artists examine the role of the
in-between, a space of uncertainty and the unknown.
Focusing on moments of distancing, breaking away, and
fracturing, this exhibition ruminates on the difficulty of
occupying this space of the in-between in contrast to the relative ease that comes with embracing flight and
departure from it.
