Ask almost anyone about Diogenes, and he or she will say that he went around in broad daylight among the people of Athens in Ancient Greece, 4th century B.C., with a lit lantern, and when questioned by his fellow citizens as to what he was doing, Diogenes answered, "I am just looking for an honest man." Although there are many anecdotes about Diogenes, not too many particular things are known about him. It is documented that he died in 323 B.C., but the date of his birth has been given as 404 B.C. and 412 B.C. My stage play concerns many of the statements that Diogenes had made throughout his life- verbatim. However, some of the story that I have woven may or may not be true, but as a plot for a hero, I think it works.
