The Windham Regional Commission (WRC) worked with community members from the Town of Londonderry to support community and economic development. The WRC also assisted the community in developing three public town green designs (a final design and two alternative designs) in Londonderry Village to support community gathering and village revitalization. Technical assistance was made possible through a grant received from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). In December 2012, the EDA Disaster Recovery Grant Program awarded funding to the Windham and Bennington regions to assist communities like Londonderry that sustained economic damages during Tropical Storm Irene. The grant allowed the Bennington and Windham Regional Commissions and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation to bring additional professional capacity to Southern Vermont to assist with economic recovery and village and downtown revitalization.
