Williamson was part of an expedition led by Dr. Daniel Ruzo, who had invited his friend Gene Savoy to view the immense carved monuments on the mysterious plateau. Williamson later wrote Road in the Sky, much to the chagrin of Ruzo, who claimed he plagerized his research.
