This is the first translation of Adelardo Sanz's "Esgrima del Sable y Consideraciones Sobre El Duelo," published in Madrid, in 1886. Sanz is considered by many as the father of the Modern Spanish School of Fencing. He is most known for patenting a special type of foil grip and for having taken the best of the French and Italian schools to create his own. In this work, we have a complete saber system with five parries and a very straight forward approach to explaining all the actions leading us up to the assault and then the duel.
