Posth. 103 (D. 940), which looks to be inspired by similar models that Mozart, and Beethoven, wrote for that special instrument that was the Flštenuhr. It is known that specially the Fantasy in f minor K. 608 was having a special wave in the Vienna of around 1820 as well other pieces by Mozart, and that Schubert looked at him as one of his beloved references (with Beethoven indeed). This possible connection, even if the organ wasn't in Schubert the instrument for which he wrote this Adagio, as well the interesting new sound that the piece has on the pipe instrument is the main reason for this new transcription. A score that is actually an orchestration of this wonderful work in a way that hopefully will be useful in the organ repertoire.

EMF Collection © 041
