This is a work to show the many contributions of the large Scottish population in Colonial Virginia and Colonial Williamsburg, and to dispel misconceptions regarding them. It will also show how they were integrated at all levels of society, from the top government, religious and business leaders, often not recognized as Scots then or today, as well as many of those in the trades; some famous but not well known as Scots. And, finally the unfortunate miscreants who ended up in the Virginia Gazette and were often called Scotchman, or described as Scottish by name, attire or physical attributes.
