Return to the "Alligator Pit" one last time to enjoy a collection of treasured stories brought to life by the lady that will always be remembered as Oliver Springs' librarian, Mimi Brock.
Mimi Brock was born Mary Louise Small on August 19, 1936 in Valdese, NC. Mimi, a well-known storyteller, loved to write stories and non-sense poetry, especially about co-workers and people for whom she cared.
She was fondly remembered for her 28 years as librarian of Oliver Springs Elementary School in Oliver Springs, Tenn. where she established and operated the school's first library. When the school was lost to fire in 1978, she traveled to four temporary school locations for story time and library lessons for the school's children.
Before her passing in 2021, Brock commissioned the publication of this collection of her writing -- poems and short stories -- for the enjoyment of her friends and family and the preservation of the history chronicled therein.
Proceeds from the sale of this volume benefit the Oliver Springs Historical Society (oshistorical.com).
