The revival and unity movement around Naum Faiq produced numerous personalities who left a lasting influence on the young Assyrian national movement with their writings. A long-time companion of Naum Faiq was Senharib Balley (1878-1971), who became a leading figure of the national idea through his active support and writings.
In his youth, his family fell victim to the massacres of 1895 in Amid (Diyarbakir). His father and one brother were murdered, while he survived with serious injuries. Already in his hometown, he became a leading member of the Intibah movement at the beginning of the 20th century and contributed to its spread in Upper Mesopotamia.
In the USA, the name Senharib Balley has been closely associated with the founding of countless organizations and today's Assyrian American National Federation since 1913. Until a few years before his death, he expressed his views on current Assyrian issues in countless magazines.
