The Anglican Expositor is pleased to offer this completely re-typeset edition of Isaac Williams' sermons on the Church Year, now in one volume. Originally published in the mid-19th Century, Williams' sermons cover every set of Epistle and Gospel lessons found in the eucharistic lectionary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. For each set of lessons he offers the reader a solid exposition of the day's Epistle as a lead-in to an exposition of the Gospel, then concludes with devotional thoughts and practical application of the text. These sermons are an excellent devotional aid to the Church Year for laymen as well as a homiletic treasure trove for the preacher. Williams does an excellent job showing the theme of each set of lessons, offers great examples of how the lessons tie into the theme of the day, and can help the preacher move from exegesis to exposition to practical application.
