This guide is for you if you are considering implementing STEM education in your district. We have chosen to take a coaching approach because most school districts are familiar with sports teams. Sports teams give communities a sense of pride and students an opportunity to learn from mistakes, practice and build skills, become part of a team and ultimately excel. STEM education offers these same principles during the school day, and through consistent application of knowledge, motivates students to persist in other challenging coursework and prepares them for college and careers. It takes some effort, but it is worth it to see your disengaged students finally achieve, and your top students amaze you with what they can do. This isnÕt about minimum standards of proficiency, but about opening opportunities for all students to relate differently and successfully to school. Just like your sports teams, youÕll want to have a championship STEM education program.
