Joan Brickley was born in Knotty Ash, Liverpool on the eve of World War Two.
She was educated at Broughton Hall, Leyfield, Notre Dame Commercial and Notre Dame High School Mount Pleasant, Liverpool. She spent two years at Endsleigh Training College, Hull and a year at Liverpool University, gaining an Advanced Diploma in Education. She taught in primary schools for thirty years.
Her hobbies are reading, writing and illustrating childrenÕs books, painting, swimming and travel.
She is married with three children and two grandchildren and is living in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Lancashire.
