TodayÕs mode of thinking around visual imagery is closely tied to social media, advertising and instant gratification. We are conditioned to scroll, swipe and digest imagery in a flash and then move on to the next. Slow Art is an exhibition dedicated to works that intentionally slows down the senses and creates a space for contemplation.
Village West Gallery brings together 22 artists whose work can be characterized as ÒSlow ArtÓ in terms of intellectual, emotional or aesthetic terms. Collectively, the artworks in Slow Art are not defined as slow by how long it took to make or how long a viewer spends looking at the artwork. Rather, the works are an experience that
de-accelerate thought and evoke stillness and curiosity.
