Henry James, Bahamian Director of Cultural Affairs, gives a sensational address to the UN General Assembly on the anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, embarrassing Prime Minister Mallory King. King vows to take revenge, and sets in motion a plot to destroy James. The instrument of that destruction is Delilah Lockhart, a young woman appointed to work closely with James as his deputy. But the plot backfires, as many plots do.
