In the past 25+ years I have had the pleasure of assisting more than 75 children and young adults with Angelman Syndrome (AS) Ôfind their voices.Õ Given the nature of AS, this has always included the introduction of methods of communication (i.e. augmentative and alternative communication, or AAC) designed to supplement individualsÕ existing communication strengths. These efforts have been founded on and driven by a belief that all individuals with AS possess intrinsic skills that, if nurtured effectively, can result in their developing a sense of belonging in their communities. Their likelihood of attaining this end result is certainly related in part to their various abilities across 10 numerous domains.
