Some Body is a collection of photographs in three sets that abstract the form and shape of the human body by approaching it closely and narrowing the focus of the eye.
While I have photographed for eight years, I have seldom photographed people. On the few occasions that I have photographed people, I have shot them as if I were a complacent model photographer, seeking to simultaneously depict the modelsÕ most appealing and authentic look. I never stepped closer Ð like I have done with plants, buildings, and many other things Ð to examine in detail what a person consists of ÐÐ texture, shape, eccentricities. This distance may be the result of my teenage introversion, an attitude which can sometimes still incline me to avert from social interaction. With people I know, without much of their clothing, in the darkness behind closed doors, I have found the comfort to look closely at the human body.
