These 5 Songs from Japan were inspired by a beautifully illustrated book of traditional songs given to me by the Matsuba family in 2006. The pieces were awarded first place in the California Composers Today competition in 2009. Each song lies in a simple 5 finger position making it easy to play for the beginning student.
