SONGS OF SILENCE AND SERENITY is a collection of poems and prose written from about 1975/1976 (when I was about 7 or 8 years old) to mid 2002 or so. Most of them, however, are from the 1990s, during that nearly ten-year period when I served in the United States Navy.
Like with Tales of Terror and Tenderness, the poetry is reflective of the periods in my life when I was confused, scared, or just plain clueless as to what I was thinking and feeling. This seems to be the emotional state when most of my poetry flows -- at other times, in less volatile mental states, writing poetry is akin to pulling teeth with razor-wire. This volume diverts from the format of TALES... in several ways.
