Tayumanavar (1705Ð1744), articulated the Saiva Siddhanta philosophy. He wrote 1454 Tamil hymns. His poems follow his own mystical experience, but they also outline the philosophy of South Indian Hinduism, and the Tirumandiram by Saint Tirumular. His poems are both devotional and nondual. They see God as both immanent and transcendent. Tayumanavar's key teaching is to discipline the mind, control desires and meditate peacefully.
