For one family in the Louisiana countryside, secrets are too abominable to speak of until now. Forced into slavery and stripped of their culture, the slaves adhered to their captorsÕ commands and did as instructed. The unfamiliar tongues made the commands hard, yet the cleverness of the slaves was underestimated.
