Immigration, which is the lifeblood of Canada's economy, alters the demographic face of Canada. As people of faith groups take up residence, this challenge of accommodating religious diversity within a secular governance structure gets pointed.
It is with that in view, the second Spiritual Diversity Conference was hosted in Halifax in October 2013. The theme focuses on the Challenge of Peaceful Coexistence. The topics: Freedom of Religion in the Public Square 2. Human Rights Under Fire. 3. Religious Divisions and Social Conflict and several more.
This conference also sought to take interfaith dialogue to people on the ground in schools and hospitals, police departments and penitentiaries. The panelists were drawn from these specific fields with hands-on experience of what it means to connect with people of different faith traditions in these different sectors.
