John Squire was born 1854 in Devon, England; sent to Logan County, IL in the 1860s where he worked to pay off his ship fare; walked to Douglas County, MO in the early 1880s and founded Squires, MO in 1882. This book provides his family history as well as those of his wife, Martha "Frankie" Brown. Her grandfathers were Lyhue Brown a native of Kentucky and pioneer in Taney County, MO by 1837; and William Burton from White County, TN, pioneer of Taney County, MO in 1840s.
