I joined the Pakistani Army as a clerk at the age of 19 and received not only clerical training but also basic general military training. During seven years of service, I, on a self-helped basis, completed my studies and graduated from a well-known University in Pakistan. Got married, and as tradition dictated, I came to England back in 1997. I had a dream to get into civil services and had opportunities, but due to the family's involvement in the flooring business, I got dragged into the business. I learned the trade there and ended up opening my own carpet and flooring business. Over the last 20 years, I have learned vital skills to own/run my own business. Over this period of time, I trained several people in all aspects of the business. While running my own business, I started and completed writing a flooring business training manual, which I now want to pass on to others. This is why we are here today, talking/ learning about flooring in general and owning your own business in particular. I hope you enjoy the course.
