Marie Leona (Cormier) Chiasson was born November 4, 1914 in the little village of Saint-Joseph-du-Moine in the area known as Cheticamp. Her vivid stories reflect the rich life of the parishes which surrounded her home, the burgeoning fishing and forest industries, and the enlivened intellects that developed her love of literature. Inheriting her mother's skill of teaching and her father's love of his children, she became not only a wife and mother herself, but a crafts person in the arts and in writing.
