This book is based on an evolving approach for risk management, an approach that is focused on the strategic risk faced by organizations. It is based on the Return Driven Strategy framework, which has been used by management teams and boards to guide strategic decisions toward growth, profitability and superior and sustainable wealth creation. As boards and management teams used the Return Driven Strategy framework for strategic planning, they started to hone in on the key strategic risks in the business plans of the organizations and found new insight into how to better assess and manage the risk. This was the beginning of the applications of the Return Driven Strategy framework for strategic risk assessment and strategic risk management and the genesis of this primer.
